53rd Annual Children’s Christmas Parade & Pancake Breakfast
SATURDAY, DECEMBER 15th 2018 from 9:00 am – 11:30 am
Every December since 1966, the volunteers of the Melbourne Beach Vol. Fire Dept. have hosted the Annual Children’s Christmas Parade in Melbourne Beach. The event is considered a small town parade, and it used to be joked that it was the only parade that would pass by you twice due to it’s previous route down Ocean Avenue. The Parade is now held as the “grand finale” to the Town of Melbourne Beach’s Holiday Event Week, starting with the Christmas Tree Lighting in town. Check below for more information.

NEW THIS YEAR: The MBVFD Inc. Children’s Christmas Parade will now take a new route down Oak Street and Ocean Ave.
Starting this year, the parade will now begin at Advent Lutheran Church in Melbourne Beach, located at 1805 Oak St, Melbourne Beach, FL 32951. The Parade will run north down Oak Street to Ocean Avenue, where the parade will take a left turn, and head West down Ocean Avenue. The Parade will end at Ryckman Park.
In the past, the route historically started at the Melbourne Beach Vol. Fire Station, and went down Ocean Avenue to the East. The parade would then turn around at the Flag Pole at Ocean Park, and head back down Ocean Avenue to the fire station. It had long been joked that it was the only parade that would pass you twice.
With the new route, there are still plenty of great spots to watch the parade!
Spectators can watch the parade from the sidewalk that runs along the East side of Oak Street. There is also plenty of room to watch the parade from the sidewalks on both sides of Ocean Avenue, and in front of Ryckman Park.
NEW THIS YEAR: We are encouraging spectators to come out and represent their block here in town. The block with the best cheering section will get recognition at the awards portion of the event and bragging rights for the year.
The Children’s Christmas Parade is fun and appropriate for all ages!
Unfortunately NO, the parade is always led by a fire engine for safety, and then followed by the local Boy Scout troop carrying the American Flag.
Groups may stop to “perform” for the judges, but we ask that the performances be kept under 60 seconds to keep the parade moving.
Yes, there are bathrooms located in Ryckman Park and Ocean Park that will be open for use during the Children’s Christmas Parade.
Yes! This year the MBVFD Inc. will be hosting an ALL YOU CAN EAT Pancake Breakfast fundraiser immediately after the parade.
