2023 Christmas Eve Santa Run

“Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the town, Santa delivered some early presents, to good girls and boys around!”

Finally the event everyone has been waiting for all year!!! Santa and his helpers at the MBVFD will be driving around on Christmas Eve to visit with the citizens & children of Melbourne Beach. Santa will be stopping at designated “Santa Stops” to visit with everyone, take pictures, and deliver pre-dropped off gifts. Check out our Santa Stop map to see which stop is closest to you, and what time you can expect Santa to be there.
If you plan to participate in the gift delivery from Santa, you must drop off the gift you would like Santa to deliver in a pre-wrapped box or gift bag during one of our designated “gift drop off times”.

Sorry, No more event to show

2023 Christmas Eve Santa Run FAQs

When is the 2023 MBVFD Christmas Eve Santa Run taking place?

Sunday, December 24th, 2023 starting at 5:30pm

What are the times that I need to know for this event?

We have 2 routes that run simultaneously in both the south and north section of the town.  There are multiple “Santa Stops” along both routes.  Check the “Santa Run Map” to find the stop closest to you, and what time Santa should be arriving.  Keep in mind that all times listed are estimates, and its possible for us to be delayed 5-15 minutes depending on the turnout for the stop before yours.  Also check below for information on Gift Drop Off Times.

How much does this event cost?

This event is FREE, and is funded 100% through donations made to Melbourne Beach Volunteer Firefighters Association, our non-profit organization.

What is the “Gift Delivery” portion of the event?

When Santa comes to your “Santa Stop”, he can deliver 1 gift per person, that you have pre-arranged and dropped off with his helpers at the Melbourne Beach Volunteer Fire Dept.  If you plan to participate in the gift delivery from Santa, you must drop off the gift you would like Santa to deliver in a pre-wrapped box or gift bag during one of our designated “gift drop off times”.

What are the restrictions on gifts that I can drop off?

  • We ask that you only drop off 1 gift per child/adult as we usually wind up delivering well over 500 gifts every year.
  • Please keep the gifts relatively small in size. (No bicycles, TVs, etc…)
  • Nothing over 30lbs in weight.
  • Nothing over $500 in value.
  • No live animals.
  • No weapons or gifts that are not “family friendly”.
  • The MBVFD reserves the right to restrict gifts allowed for delivery at the time of drop off.

How does the Gift Drop Off work?

Bring your pre-wrapped or bagged gift to the Melbourne Beach Volunteer Fire Department during one of the designated “Gift Drop Off Times”.  There will be event staff on site to collect the gift(s), and assist with filling out the gift drop off form.  We will then give you a receipt for the gift. The receipt will include a description of what you dropped off, what Santa Stop it will be delivered to, and a phone number for us in case you miss your stop.

When can I drop my pre-wrapped gifts off?

The Gift Drop Off Times for 2023 will be:

  • Wednesday, Dec. 20th from 2 pm – 6 pm
  • Thursday, Dec. 21th from 3 pm – 7 pm
  • Friday, Dec. 22nd from 7 am – 11 am  *** Morning Hours ***
  • Saturday, Dec. 23rd from 2 pm – 6 pm
  • Sunday, Dec. 24th from 1 pm – 2 pm   *** Last Minute – 1 Hour Only ***

*** No gifts can be accepted after 3 pm on Sunday, December 24th ***

Can an extra gift be dropped off for children whose families may be less fortunate or is a new resident that did not know about this?

YES!  We will be accepting small inexpensive gifts for children whose families may be less fortunate this year or 1st time residents of Melbourne Beach and did not know about the gift drop off for this event. We like to try to give every child that shows up to one of our stops something small, regardless of their family’s financial situation. We prefer these gifts to be something that both a boy or a girl would enjoy, such as a coloring book with markers, child level reading book, bubbles, school supplies, stuffed animals, etc.  These gifts do not need to be pre-wrapped like the others; we will take care of putting them in gift bags.

What is the route for the Santa Run?

There are 2 routes that run simultaneously in both the south and north section(s) of the town.  There are multiple “Santa Stops” along both routes.  Check the “Santa Run Map” below to find the stop closest to you.

What happens if I miss my Santa Stop?

If you miss your Santa Stop, you can either follow the route and catch up to Santa at his next stop, or meet him back at the Fire Station From 8-8:30pm.  You can also call the number at the bottom of your gift drop off receipt and speak to an event staff member if needed.

Will there be food at the event?

NO, the Firefighters Association usually hands out candy canes, but there will be no food or drink available at the event.

Is there a rain-out/contingency plan?

Yes, in the case of severe weather, or the Fire Department needing to respond to an emergency call, Santa will go back to the Fire Station with the gifts, and will be available to hand them out there from 5:30pm-8:30pm.  Check our Facebook for real time updates on the event. http://facebook.com/mbvfd
